The Power of Global Intention for Peace

This weekend marks a global celebration of arising peace in our world. In honor of UN International Peace Day on September 21st, families, yoga and dance communities, and individuals all over the planet will be sharing the intention to create practical acts of peace.

We are arriving at the Autumnal Equinox, a point in the ever-shifting cycle of the year experienced as an opportunity acknowledge the peace of arriving at a moment of balance. All beings experience the shifts of seasons in our bodies and we sense them in local and communal ways. This is an ancient awareness, which we all feel intimately within our our beings, that calls us to gather together in collective rituals of prayer, dance, song, and celebration.

When we gather together with intention, the effect is powerful. Our consciousness has a physical, measurable effect. The Global Consciousness Project at Princeton has been measuring this using an "electrogaiagram " or EGG. The EGG graphs shows significant changes during global events such as 9/11, Earthdance, and the Global OM:

Global events such as Global Mala, catalyzed in the world yoga community in 2007 by Shiva Rea and Earthdance, during which a synchronized Prayer for Peace will be offered at 12 GMT on September 18th, invite us to connect through yoga and dance. Through these ritual practices, we heal schisms and unite as a global family.
